This is a special deck has been created in honour of the work of Harry Clarke (1889-1931). Harry Clarke remains Ireland's most celebrated stained glass designer, and he and his studio produced over 130 stained glass windows. This work included, not only the religious, but also the secular and literary, and won many prestigious awards. He was also an artisan producing objects d'art and an illustrator associated with 'the golden age of illustration'. A total of six major books were published with his illustrations both in colour and black and white. These included an edition of Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tales, Selected Poems of Algernon Charles Swinburne, Faust, which, in addition to full page illustrations contained 64 vignettes within the text, and Poe's Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Although quite a number of artists illustrated Poe, none were able to match the writers richly dark imagination so well as Clarke. This Tarot deck has been created from a selection of his various pen and ink book illustrations, some stark and some densely detailed, all superbly executed. It is standard tarot size, professionally printed on 300 gsm smooth card stock. A home printed A4 poster with individual card meanings is included.
