TAROT of AUBREY BEARDSLEY

This is a special deck  has been lovingly created in  honour of the work of Aubrey Beardsley (1872 - 1898), the darling of the purple 1890s. Born in Brighton, England, within his short life he quickly rose to prominence as an illustrator with his black and white drawings influenced primarily by Japanese woodcuts. He was a leading figure in the Aesthetic Movement and  a significant influence in the Art Nouveau Movement. He co-founded The Yellow Book with American writer Henry Harland for which he was initially the art editor, and also co-founder of The Savoy (in which some of his writings were published). Producing extensive drawings and illustrations for books and magazines, his ouvre shows an evident talent for adaptation of style. Major illustration projects include Malory's La Mort d' Arthur, Aristophanes' Lysistrata. Pope's Rape of the Lock and Wilde's play, Salome. This deck is standard tarot size, professionally printed on 300 gsm smooth card stock. A home printed A4 poster with individual card meanings is included. Packaging  is sturdy brown paper labelled with an artist illustration, black gift ribboned with tiny silk rose and includes a black organza bag.
